Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 6098, known as the “Ovettone”, one of the most distinctive large-sized Oyster Perpetual watches produced by Rolex in the early 1950s. This example features a steel Oyster case measuring approximately 36 mm, with a smooth bezel, screw-down caseback and Rolex crown. The black dial bears the wording “SHOCK-RESISTING”. Ref. 6098 belongs to the generation of automatic Oyster Perpetual watches that marks the transition from the earlier Bubblebacks towards Rolex cases with more modern dimensions and proportions. The watch comes with a brown leather strap with a pin buckle. The strap and buckle are considered accessories and are not declared to be original Rolex components. The case, caseback, crystal and strap show signs of use and age visible in the photographs, consistent with the vintage nature of the watch. In particular, the caseback shows superficial scratches visible in the images.
